About — what the PROVE Institute is

PROVE Institute Limited is the peak body for the profession of verification — the people who confirm that an ecological or social improvement is genuine, measured and faithfully represented.

We call those people Provers. The people whose work a Prover verifies are Improvers. A Prover does not do the improving and does not sell the outcome; they establish, in the context the work was done, whether the claimed improvement is real and what it is worth.

PROVE is an acronym — Professionals Recognising Outcomes of Verified Excellence. The Institute is a Queensland-based independent mutual, owned by its members, and it sits deliberately outside the market it serves.

That separation is the whole point. The Institute earns nothing when a verified outcome is licensed or commercialised downstream, so the only thing a Prover ever answers to is the evidence in front of them.

Two words we use precisely
Provers

The professionals the Institute trains and certifies. A Prover observes what was done, in the context it was done, and confirms whether the outcome is genuine and valuable. Independent of the work, accountable to the evidence.

Improvers

The people doing the work — restoring water systems, holding communities together, reducing pressure on ecosystems. Their improvement is the subject of verification. A Prover never improves and verifies the same work.
